This guide provides a brief overview of the architecture of SAP Enterprise Portal, its platforms and components. It describes how to distribute the components of the platforms, and the possible deployment landscapes that ensure high availability, and optimized performance of the portal processes. High availability is the ability to deploy and implement a landscape that ensures continuous operation of the portal. It includes the capacity to identify points-of-failure in the system that can disrupt end users’ work, and the ability to remove the identified points-of-failure. Explanations on how to make the portal highly available include discussions on clustering and load-balancing methods and mechanisms.
SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 Installation Guide is comprised of the following documents: • SAP Enterprise Portal Technical Infrastructure • Installing Oracle9i 9.2 on UNIX for SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP2 • Creating Schemas on Windows for SAP Enterprise Portal • Installing the Portal Platform, Content Management (CM) and Collaboration • Installing an Additional SAP J2EE System for a Portal Cluster • Installing Retrieval and Classification (TREX) • Scaling Retrieval and Classification (TREX) • Installing Unification in EP 6.0
This document describes the installation of Patch 2 for SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP2, both for Portal Platform and for Content Management (CM). The patch contains SDA files in the following software collections (*.swc files): • User Management • Portal Platform – catalog 1 • Portal Platform – catalog 2 • MetaMatrix • CM collaboration – catalog 1 • CM collaboration – catalog 2 These files are deployed using the SAP Software Delivery Manager (SDM). Patch 2 is delivered for installation on a CD. For additional patch information, see the appropriate SAP Notes.
This document describes the installation of Oracle9i Release 2 (9.2) software on UNIX for SAP Enterprise Portal. Scripts specifically programmed to meet the needs of SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP2 form the basis of the installation procedures. Following the instructions in this guide ensures that your database installation is properly set and configured for the portal.
This guide provides practical information on the installation of additional portals to a portal cluster environment. This installation is performed only after having installed one initial portal platform. The Enterprise Portal application runs on SAP J2EE Engine. when installing the portal, the SAP J2EE installs on the host both a dispatcher and a server. You can add more servers to an existing dispatcher or you can install an additional SAP J2EE Engine on a different machine (both a dispatcher and a server) and synchronize it with the application running on the initial machine. The addition of more servers to a dispatcher relieves overload on the CPU of a single host while the addition of more hosts provides means for load balancing solution for the portal.
